Spikey
Thinking today what I should sketch out and work on. Well I came across a portrait picture and thought I'd use it as reference to draw. I found it a challenge and interesting to do since I mostly sketch the same female type face. Today I went for the guy with spiked hair and glasses lol. I think I worked a rough hour or two on this but this time I constantly looked back at the reference to make sure everything looks to par. I did however had trouble with the lips but I tend to keep it simple but pouty.
I also thought that the hair would turn out too flat. However, I think the slight highlights work here. For this portrait I used a umber pastel pencil and white charcoal pencil for strong white highlights.
I know the the glass shadow on the face looks a bit odd but the light source seems to be coming from the upper left. So with all done I think I am seeing some signs of improvement just need to keep at it.
